Our Story

“We grew up in Devon, with good value wholesome food, abundant farm shops and a big sense of community towards shopping locally and with independent stores. Well Dressed Catering is our way of contributing to keep those small businesses alive, as they give personality to Devon. It's this that makes us proud of where we are from.”

Festival Friends

Drew & Hannah were friends for many years, Hannah working as a Restaurant Manager and Drew as a Head Chef in the kitchen. Although Drew spent his teenage years cooking in America, they are both from Devon and will always call Exeter home. In the summer 2013 at a local music festival they were shocked to find that none of the food vendors were selling or promoting the delicious local produce that is available so easily, and so the idea of Two Coast County was born.

They saved every penny they could as they waited for the next season to roll around and wrote to every event they could think of to spread the word of their new offering.

In April 2014 they launched a Kickstarter project and in doing so documented the ‘making of’ Two Coast County through a series of videos that you can watch on this link: Kickstarter videos.

As expected there were a fair few hurdles to face! Firstly neither Hannah nor Drew could drive and which ever one of them would pass their test first would need to drive an Iveco Daily long wheel based van as their first car! It was Hannah, and it wasn’t easy but it needed to be done.

Space was always an issue to; infact the living room in their cosy cottage looked a little like this:

In the lead up to their first event, they held a ‘Set-Up day’ at Duckaller Farm in Dawlish which was when the plan finally came together! The sun shone and friends and family came to support them and try their festival dishes. Ready and raring to go, they headed to their first event Lemonfest, Newton Abbot on the 31st of May 2014. Set Up Day General

And so it began…

The first season went well, of course there were some mistakes made, but all in the name of lessons learned. In 2015 Hannah & Drew took the opportunity to take a resident weekend spot at Exeter Street Food in the Guildhall Shopping Centre which meant a second Two Coast County. They took it in turns staying in Exeter or traveling off to events throughout the county.

With this expansion it was time to move the business from a tight squeeze in the garage to a purposeful space, so they took the exciting step to move into a unit in Sowton Industrial Estate.

2015 also meant recognition in the form of the Taste of the West GOLD award, Highly Commended award from Devon Tourism, and Best Street Food at the Food & Drink Devon Awards. What an amazing year! But what next?

So this brings us to 2016!

This year Two Coast County becomes part of Well Dressed Catering, incorporating the newly launched Tip Top Chip Shop and the up coming wedding specific pop-up Match Made In Devon in a street food conglomerate. With more platforms from which to spread their passion for good food, local producers and suppliers and a whole load of love for Devon! We hope you’ll join us this summer to be part of Our Story next year…

You can usually find Drew blitzing up a marinade or flipping 50 burgers at once! He's in charge of making sure we have enough food to satisfy all the hungry festival revellers!

His desert island must-have would be a box of Maldon salt.

Two Coast County isn't just about the food!
